A school that stays in PI status for two years in a row must offer Supplemental Educational Services SES , or free tutoring, to students who receive free or reduced-price meals.

SES programs are free tutoring services offered by providers that are approved by the California State Board of Education. These providers offer additional academic help and individual instruction to eligible students in low performing schools.

These services are offered in addition to instruction or intervention programs provided by the school or during the school day. Students can be provided services in reading, language arts, or math. SES services are high quality, research-based, and specifically designed to increase student achievement. If your child qualifies to receive free tutoring, please complete the SES application by listing your provider choices.
