Absolutely love this product! Installed it myself in '09 Mazdaspeed 3. I love being able to hit the remote start button and get out of the car and go into a store with it running and still armed and keep my car warm or cool.
Remote range is very nice compared to older systems I've used Only problem I have is the shock sensor randomly going off within a few minutes of locking the doors. I'll figure it out eventually I really like this product, but wish it was less expensive. The buttons are touchy, but I had my installer put the 20 second lock function on it. Still trying to figure out if I can instantly lock it. The reception is pretty good with a clear shot of the vehicle, but office buildings are a problem.
Regardless, I won't be freezing as much this coming winter and that's a great thing!!! Awesome remote start and everything. Only one kick that I can see is I have had it for almost a year and the batteries last me about three months. Of course, I use the remote start everyday 3 or 4 times a day. So, I know 3 months is good under those circumstances. This is a great system, easy to use if you read the manual and everything works great. I am having a hard time setting the shock sensor but that is user error not the system.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants good security, keyless entry, and remote start. I bought this alarm for my wife's van last ocober and it was rating us good especially through the long Chicago winters, but after about 4 months or so my 2-way remote started acting up. I took it back to Best Buy and had the problem solved. Up until April everything was back to normal so I just took the van in for a second time and had both remotes replaced and my wife and I are extremely satisfied with this viper.
If I were to do it all over again, I would still purchase this unit. Strongly recommend it. After reading the rewiews form other people who have bought this product I was convinced to purchase the After getting the alarm installed in my wifes minivan, I did a few tests to see if the alarm was working the way it was designed.
Viper didn't let me down. This alarm works great Great product from someone who knows car electronics. And to those below me who's systems aren't properly working I'm pretty happy overall with my model but I have had some problems lately with it working properly.
I've since found that the batteries in the remote are almost dead and wasn't too happy that the low battery indicator didn't warn me of that condition. Other than that it has been working just fine. I really like the remote start in the winter.
I got the viper 2-way control for christmas I love the remote. Mainly use the 1-way, it doesnt do alot of the things the 2-way does but the remote locks so I dont press buttons when its in my pocket and its wonderful for cold mornings.
Only took an hour to install. Would recommend to all my friends. Good job keep it going. This product is awesome! I've always heard about Viper's reputation but never purchased one. My last car had a Code Alarm cannot compare to the Viper but the features were to difficult to remember. The 2-way is great when you do not have a visual of your car, the remote confirms if the car has been started.
The range is great, signal goes through walls. I read a review before I bought it about people having problems with the remote buttons being pressed while in a purse or pocket, but the remote can be locked.
I couldn't find how to do it in the manual but I called Viper customer service on it and they gave me the code for it. For keypad lock press F for 12 seconds. After that press the lock button and the keypad will light up for a few seconds, leave it alone, when all the lights turn off the keypad is locked. Sounds like a lot but it's really simple.
It's a great feature if you just throw your keys in your purse or pocket. To unlock press F then the unlock. I love this product it's great! Better than the rest!! A little pricey but worth every penny! Would recommend to anyone! Everything works fine so far, remote start, alarm, etc. No complaints Do not release the Program switch. Press the lock button on the remote control. The horn honks to confirm that the code has been successfully programmed.

No need to go to the lobby to start it, has great distenence to it. It was quick and really pays for itself. It's really nice to be able to start it up on cold days and even five minutes before going anywhere just to make sure I'm not running the engine cold. I've tested as far as 1,ft out of sight location and the car started just fine. The 2-way confirmation is great for this.
Knowing that I don't need to crawl out of bed, put my boots and jacket on just to start my car during winter is a life saver! I have had other Viper products, but this one works great. I live in Upstate New York where the weather is cold. It is great to be in my home and start the car and know that it is started.
The same goes for at work, to be able to sit in my office and start my car and then come out to a warm and ready to drive vehicle.
My only wishes were that they installed the trunk release and that the unit came with 2 two-way remotes instead of one 2-way and one 1-way. This was a great investment! I use it all the time and like the distance range on the 2-way remote. Only thing I need to look into, is the rear defogger not automatically going on when I start it wtih the remote.
I read in the manual that this can be added, so I will need to check with Best Buy on that. Great product and as always, great service at Best Buy! I have had this remote for just over a year now. I replaced the batteries once so far, and no problems. Installation was done by Best Buy within a 4 hour period. It has been a terrific product for the very nasty winter this year.
Range is great, starts from anywhere in my home, from the checkout line at the store, and from inside work. I was trying to find information about a blue LED light flashing inside the car, but upon reading the above review, it appears that I simply need to use the 1-way remote to turn it off. Lee the installer at Best Buy in Dubuque Ia. I purchased this unit in Jan. I have had a few glitches with it, had to get a new "brain" within the first month and have brought my car back to Best Buy a few times for adjustments, but they have been extremely helpful in assisting me in using my remote starter to its full capability. After reading the manual, I found out that you can "lock" the remote and that way you cannot inadvertently start your car.
You must unlock the remote in order to activate any button on the remote. It's kind of a pain, but now I don't have to worry about accidentally starting the car by bumping the remote in my purse or pocket. Note: this only works on the 2-way remote and must be programmed by the installer.
I used the smart start last winter and it worked well. No worries in the morning on super cold days about starting my car. I also like the blue blinking light that comes on when the car is locked- I think it deters thieves from breaking in since it looks like the car is armed. This product is great for mid-westerners that deal with super cold winters with lots of snow and ice--barely had to scrap my car last winter.
I have owned two Viper remote starters in my life. The only reason i got rid of the other one was because i bought a new car. This product is good overall. I only have small problems with it. Not to mention that when i lock my car i get this beep that last about 10 seconds. I still say it's a good buy overall. Bought the unit about 6 months ago for my SUV. One noticable concern is the sensitivity of the remote control. Simply bending down with the key fob in my front pocket starts my car unexpected.
This becomes a big pain when it occurs time after time. Went back to the retailer and they indicated they had many customers with this same concern. Other than that, the unit works great. I just had a installed. The installer set the remote to start the car with two key presses, so no issues with the keypad. You can also lock the keypad. So far, so good. I really like this Remote Start.
This is my first one. I have to tell you the Keypad is so sensitive and will start your vehicle with an inadvertant touch. Other than that it works as advertised. I wish the troubleshooting section would mention if your remote will not start, the first thing to do is remove the battery. This reset fixed the only problem I have had with my remote. I just had the installed. The whole process was smooth, the installation from a professional in town was clean.
The unit worked as expected. I would recommend this unit to anyone.
