I have the flicker in Chrome on Windows 10, but only at a certain zoom level. Odd that a zoom level would do that. This workaround was suggested here in Ghacks by an user and it worked for me several time ago. Thank you, thank you! I installed Windows 11 about a week ago and it worked fine for several days and then I started seeing frequent short black outs.
Even worse, sometimes the display would simply fade to white taking about seconds to do so. I thought I would soon be receiving a ransomware request. You saved my sanity, Ashwin! I had this problem of black screen flicking on and off when using Chrome only when not maximised on Windows 11 and also the screen would go pixelated as I moved the mouse across it.
I could reliably reproduce it by moving my cursor over the tabs and away it happened when the mini-window over the tab appeared and disappeared. This was on a Dell Inspiron 15 model Fixed by doing full Windows Update on Nov 28th , which included a bunch of Dell Firmware updates which are what I suspect fixed the problem — which was probably the display firmware issue relating to Windows All fine now Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.

Search for:. Windows 11 Help. It kinda hinders the vista experience. I emailed HP about it, and they told me to install the drivers on there page: Forceware I assume it is Nvidia who ends up upgrading the Go Serise Cards and the manufacures then adobt and release them. The GeForce Go series is their newest ones. Can they not fix this issue and inform the manufacures it's upgraded for vista? Does anyone know about this "Flickering Black" problem?
Was it an issue with other Nvidia Cards? If they fixed it for other cards, can't they release a driver that fixes it for the go series? Who do I bug about this? If anyone else has a go card in there laptop and has this issue please tell me so I know I'm not alone. It doesn't flicker black in safe mode. Sorry about the above repeat of the original POST, that was a mistake. Here is my Reply to Screen flickers black. It also had the problem of the screen blacking out 3, 5 or 10 seconds at a time.
Also tried the Suggestion listed in this post about going to task scheduler and choosing disable for TMM, that did not work for me either. Screen still blanked out for 3, 5 or 10 seconds at a time when trying to open Device Manager or trying to open System Tools - Task Scheduler or many other programs. Also the performance tab in task manager showed the CPU was hitting percent maxed out doing simple tasks like opening programs etc.

I tried disabling the graphics card, but I'm not sure if it was successful or not as I also started having issues with Windows starting up.
It would turn on with a blank screen and do nothing, and when restarted pressing and of the function buttons had no effect. This seemed to solve the problem. I got the laptop running again. Turned it off for a few hours, and when I came back it turned on with no problems.
I managed to carry out Windows updates without any problems. I connected to the Internet and spent a little while trying to get Internet explorer to work, but with no luck, so ended up installing Firefox Now this is the interesting part. I opened up Firefox and played around with it for a few minutes, and then the screen started playing up again.
I have always used Firefox and as far as I was aware it hadn't updated or anything prior to the problem occurring so it seems odd, but could Firefox be linked in any way? When the problem first started, it didn't occur in safe mode but it did in safe mode plus networking. I've just been on it again this morning, and unfortunately the second time the problem has occurred after the factory reset it was also happening in safe mode.
This morning I have carried out a system restore and it has gone back to just after it had been reset to factory settings, so Firefox is gone and no updates have been carried out.
I tried disabling the graphics card , but I'm not sure if it was successful or not as I also started having issues with Windows starting up. After a few tries I finally got it on in safe mode and went with a factory reset Hi Abwettar: If you're now experiencing the occasional blank screen when booting into Safe Mode but don't see a BSOD error then this sounds more like a hardware failure e.
Make sure you have all your important files and documents backed up to an external hard drive for any emergency recovery. Depending on when your machine was purchased, your factory reset likely rolled your system back to the original Vista with no service packs or Vista SP1 released Feb Unfortunately, performing your factory reset has likely created more problems for you than it fixed. Hi Abwettar: Just some hints about further diagnostics [assuming you haven't given up and purchased a new Win 10 laptop already :- ]: I was re-reading your original post and noticed you mentioned a BSOD.
If you'd like to post details from your dump files you can do the following:. If you are hearing short or long beeps during boot-up that could be your computer generating a diagnostic beep code during the power-on self-test POST when it checks your internal hardware.
